皇家蓝勋酒厂是苏格兰仅有的三处皇家酒厂之一。它坐落于迪伊河的南岸，距维多利亚女王的官邸仅有一英里不到，与一个生产斜纹呢衬裙的制衣厂临近，时至今日它看起来和普通的农场房屋也没什么两样。皇家蓝勋12年陈酿高地威士忌皇家蓝勋之所以称为"皇家"，是1848年约翰•贝哥给维多利亚女王写信，告诉她他的酒已酿制好，热情邀请她来参观他的酒厂，于是女王，阿尔伯特亲王及他们的家人就在第二天光临酒厂参观，维多利亚女王她惊叹于蓝勋威士忌的品质与口感，因此随即决定向当时的酒厂主人授予“皇家认证”称号。此后，酒厂的名字也就顺理成章地改为皇家蓝勋酒厂。
皇家蓝勋酒厂也在当地克莱塞社区文化集会中起着举是轻重的作用。酒厂员工积极参与苏格兰传统的西里兹（ceilidhs）音乐朗诵会，这种音乐会通常在大型的酒店或改建的谷仓中举行。酒厂员工还设立了自然保护奖，并和当地的学校一起对本地区的动植物群、甚至包括蝙蝠数量进行了详细的记载。
Royal Lochnagar Distillery was founded in 1845 on Upper Deeside near Balmoral. Fame soon assured by approving visit from new neighbours, Queen Victoria and Prince Albert.
She is said to have mixed it with fine claret “thereby ruining two of the world’s great drinks” (Michael Jackson: Malt Whisky Companion). Rebuilt in 1967; original farm buildings remain in use
