    THE DALMORE DISTILLERY, established in 1839 by Alexander Matheson, is situated north of Inverness on the shores of the Cromarty Firth.  Whisky distilleries in this area are considered to be individual and exciting with the result they offer more to the whisky connoisseur.
    Dalmore is different - one look at the large bulbous stills immediately tells you this has a bold, appealing characteristic.  We affectionately call them the "big bastards".  The oldest still dates back to 1874 and is still used today with the unique water jacket to intensify the flavours.
    The MacKenzie brothers took the lease of the distillery in 1867 and purchased it finally in 1890.
    The stag's head is of course synonymous with the MacKenzie clan. The motto for this family (which there is two) is "I shine, not burn".
